Turf Games is a team functional fitness competition rather than a solo timed race, and every other fact about it follows from that. You enter as a team of four or six, work through four separately scored workouts with real rest between them, and finish ranked against the other teams in your division instead of holding a finish time. The workouts change from event to event, so there is no fixed test to rehearse.
Every event runs Everyday, Intermediate and Elite, and they change the loads and the movement standards rather than the workouts themselves. The published guidance is that you should be able to perform five to eight reps at your division's listed weight, which is a much higher bar than touching it once. Entry is policed rather than suggested: an Everyday team may carry at most one athlete who has competed at Intermediate and nobody who has competed at Elite, and coaches, personal trainers and gym owners are asked to enter Intermediate or Elite. No muscle-ups, handstand push-ups or handstand walks appear in any division.
No. It is a team competition scored workout by workout rather than one effort against the clock. A festival gives you four scored workouts with 45 to 75 minutes of recovery between them, and your team is ranked against the other teams in its division.
Festivals run mixed teams of six, three men and three women, and some events also sell male and female teams of four. Fittest in the City is teams of four. Engine is entered as an individual, a pair or a team of three, though a given event may sell only one of those.
No. Muscle-ups, handstand push-ups and handstand walks appear in no division, and the organisers state plainly that they do not programme technical Olympic lifting or gymnastic styles of workout. Rope climbs are Elite only, and toes to bar need at least one athlete who can do them on a team of four, or one man and one woman in a mixed team of six, at Intermediate and Elite.
Not as a fixed test you can rehearse. The organisers publish an archive of past workouts with their loads and scoring and tell teams to train on those, while saying that each event's programming differs from the last.
