What is DEKA FIT?

DEKA FIT is Spartan's indoor functional fitness race, built around 10 standardised stations called DEKA Zones done in a fixed order, with a 500m run before each zone for 5km of running in total. It is held indoors in gyms, arenas and expo halls, and the standardised zones make your score directly comparable event to event.

What to expect at DEKA FIT & Ultra New York 2026

  • You run 500m, complete one DEKA Zone, then run again, repeating through all 10 zones against the clock.
  • The 10 zones include a row, a SkiErg, reverse lunges with a RAM, box step-overs, med-ball work, a farmers carry, an air bike, dead-ball overs, a tank push-pull and weighted burpees.
  • It is an indoor, judged event with staggered heats and live scoring, so your result stacks up against your age group and division.
  • Sister formats change only the running: DEKA STRONG has no run at all, DEKA MILE adds a mile total, while DEKA FIT is the full 5km.

You can enter as an Individual (with age-group brackets from youth through 70+), as a 2-person team (female, co-ed or male) or as a 4-person team, each with combined-age brackets. Designated loads differ for men, women, youth and older age groups, and equipment is marked at each zone.
