STYREKX is an indoor fitness race in the Netherlands and Belgium built from 10 workout stations alternating with 10 runs, 800m each in Regular and Xtreme and 400m in Light. It is staged in expo halls under lights and music, every run, station and transition is chipped separately, and the race closes on the Concept2 StrengthErg, a chest-press machine that made its race debut at this series.
Four divisions cover the same course at different weights. Light runs 10 x 400m with lighter loads and bodyweight versions of the sandbag lunge and the load crawl, entered Solo or Duo. Regular is 10 x 800m and is the only division with a Team option alongside Solo and Duo. Xtreme keeps the 800m runs and adds weight everywhere, Solo or Duo. Youngsters is solo only and scaled by age, with 6 runs and 6 stations for ages 8 to 11 and 8 runs and 8 stations for ages 12 to 15.
A hybrid fitness race with a fixed structure: 10 functional stations alternating with 10 runs, held indoors in expo halls across the Netherlands and Belgium. Regular and Xtreme run 800m between stations and Light runs 400m, and the movements are gym and CrossFit staples rather than specialist skills.
The tenth and final station. It is a Concept2 StrengthErg used as a chest press, so the race finishes on your chest, shoulders and triceps at the point where you are most tired. The published target runs from 500kg of total work in Light up to 2,000kg in the heaviest Xtreme category.
Yes, and the Light division exists for exactly that, with 400m runs, lighter loads and bodyweight versions of two stations. The organisers state that no previous competition experience is needed and that instructions and guidance are given at every station on the day.
Yes. Light and Xtreme are entered Solo or Duo, Regular adds a Team option on top of both, and Youngsters is solo only. Your division sets the loads and the run distance, not who you race with.
